General:
The Solflower PCI-SRL-2CN Serial Adapter allows 8 to 16 serial devices to be connected
via a single PCI Bus slot. The Serial Port Adapter can operated simutaneously
with each port s error-free data rate up to 115.2 Kbps for all 8 to 16 ports. The
Serial Port Adapter is designed to work with PCI systems, which run Solaris 8,
Solaris X86, Window 98 - 2000, and Linux Operating Systems.
Product Description:
The Solflower PCI Serial Port Series is a low cost high-speed adapter design based
on OX16PCI954 and OX16C954 Quad UART with on chip PCI interface. It offers
high data rates, deep transmitter, receiver FIFO, delicated data buffers, and flow
control processing.
The OX16PCI954 on board is a dual-function device. Function 0 will be the internal
Quad serial port built-in and function 1 provides an interface Quad UART OX16C954
that reside behind the controller (OX16PCI954). On the Solflower Serial Adapter
board there are theree OX16C954s behind the controller. This makes up a total of 16
serial ports. Each channel in OX16PCI954 and OX16C954 can offer data rates up to
115.2 Kbps and 128-deep transmitter and receiver FIFOs. Deep FIFO reduce CPU
overhead and ensure error-free operation especially in high speed transmitting and
receiving
The Solflower PCI Serial Adapter consists of a board set and a one 8-line or two 8-
line octopus cable (two, four, six up to 12-foot length). The Serial Adapter uses a
single PCI slot of the host. Its software driver supports Solaris 8, Solaris X86,
Window 98 - 2000, and Linux.
